Low Cut Connie has been one of our most devoted users of our upright systems for several years. We were invited to their recent show at Willie Nelson's Luck Reunion Festival during SXSW, and they definitely lived up to their new designation as "Hottest Live Act in America!"
Bohemian Rhapsody is a movie that reproduces every minute detail from the Seventies rock concert era. When it came time to recreate the famous Live Aid concert, the movie makers were savvy enough to include a vintage Helpinstill Piano Pickup control box on top of the grand piano. Queen was one of the hundreds of acts in those days that depended on Helpinstill for their piano sound, and we tip our hat to the movie makers for their acknowledgement of that important role we played! (Now where's our Oscar!)
NCIS-New Orleans concluded their season with a episode featuring star Scott Bakula sitting in with Walter "Wolfman" Washington on the piano in his bar. The reason you could hear the piano so clearly was a Helpinstill Model 125 Upright Piano Sensor recently purchased by the show! On top of the piano near the bottle you can see the three knobs sticking up from the Helpinstill control box, while the yellow pickup strips are visible behind the strings just above the hammers.
Even though the Helpinstill Piano Sensor was off the market for sixteen years, as soon as we opened our website doors, many of our old friends contacted us immediately to get some more of those pickup strips that were an essential part of their piano wiring. The thought of having to go back to piezo transducers was too depressing, and their old systems were starting to wear out after decades on the road. Today, they're in good hands with Helpinstill again, and we're getting calls from the hottest new up-and-coming acts on a regular basis.
